My mother once said to us when we were growing up, "Your grandfathers language is dying". I didn't see that at the time because the language was spoken a lot in our household. My sister, Dianne Appleby, with her children took on the role of revitalising the language. It does my heart so good to hear it, just listening to other people speak it, and to encourage everyone to speak language in their households and bringing it back. Because it was one of the things that was taken away from us so lets have it back, lets bring out language back, let's be proud of our language, let's bring all that respect back.
