My grandmother is a big inspiration for me. She is such an advocate of the Wirangu people. She’s a lady that has a lot of knowledge and she’s able to demonstrate that knowledge. What she’s learnt from her mother and father and her immediate and external families is now being passed on to us and so my motivation comes from knowing that we are receiving information and knowledge that is very, very ancient.|My other motivating factor is for our children. Whether that’s you own children, your nephews and nieces or extended family members, it’s very important for people of my generation to be able to learn understand and know that and pass that on to our children. And because that’s part of our history, our oral history and tradition, to be able to pass on our cultural traditions in spoken word makes it that much more special.
